[Home]. Lazy Day Ride Out 24th May 2008
The route for this ride-out changed three times before we set off. The original destination [around Wales] was scrapped on Wednesday after checking with the weatherman. On Friday a new route was planned [ to Castleton] and directions written down and strapped to tank, by Sunday the rain was forecast to reach Manchester so after a quick poll on the Toby car park we decided to play safe and go "up north". As it was bank holiday and with some people away we didn`t know who would turn up, but with Grandad John coming out of winter hibernation and a visitor to the club joining us for a ride out, five of us set off for the first stop [and a bacon barm] at Slaidburn in the Trough of Bowland. As we were sat in the sun outside the cafe we were treated to the sight of a Harley Club rideout as about 60 of them thundered past us [and a couple actually waved]. Onward to Devils bridge, which was packed as usual, where we met up with Steph and Andy, who had come for a run out from Redwell where they are staying this week for their wedding anniversary. Last stop on the way home was Guys tavern near the canal. By this time the wind was really picking up and the ride on the motorway coming home was "interesting" to say the least. However the sun shone, it was warm, we didn`t get wet, we had a nice day out, so what more can you ask for ????.
