[Home]. Carsington BBQ Run 27th June 2010 When we set this ride out we had no fixed destination in mind (it was weather dependant) so we called it the mystery tour. Luckily the weather was really warm so we decided to make for Carsington Waters near Ashbourne. Unluckily England football team were drawn to play on the same day and everyone I had spoken to that week were all set to have a bbq and watch the match with family and friends. So I thought RIGHT we can have a bbq too. With a couple of disposable bbq packs and a box full of buns, burgers and sausage, not forgetting sauces and drinks and we were ready to go. We met up with a couple of bikes at Toby and set off down as many back roads as possible to our first stop, The Queens Arms Inn at Bosley, where we had arranged to meet Andy, Steph and Trish. The Pub was still closed, but they opened early for us and we all had a welcome cool drink before moving on to Carsington. Of course the weather was warm. Of course the scenery was lovely. Of course the BBQ was enjoyable. Of course we enjoyed the day. We sat on the lakeside benches and watched the sailing boats and swimmers, and the disposable bbq really did last the promised hour so we only used one. This means we have a spare for later in the year if we decide to do it again.
