Kimnel Bay

11th April 2010

Well Sunday brought another lovely sunny day and another good turn out by members and friends. Our destination was the Crossroads café in Kinmel Bay for one of their superb breakfasts or lunches (both are equally as good but I can only eat one) and a fun quiz that Brain had set.

As we hung about on Toby car park waiting for Andy S to arrive (he had said he was going on the run, but due to crossed wires had meant a different run, and he didn‘t show up) we tried to ask Brian about the route he had planned.

  BIG MISTAKE.

Eventually giving up on Andy S we set off after our leader and into the depth of Wales. Following the route in his head, and audible only to Brian (and we all know he’s a bit deaf ) we came off the motorway and headed towards Runcorn ??? .

A bit of sign language later (there was a lot of that on this run) and we had turned around and were back on track.

  FOR THE MOMENT.

Visiting a few more roundabouts (twice) we zigzagged and looped our way through Wales and finally came to a stop on a car park with toilet facilities. He had planned to stop there (honestly) but thought we would approach it from the other side. Of course everyone then got off their bikes to loudly berate our leader (good natured ribbing) and use the loo’s.

Of course, as usual, we did arrive at the right place and tucked into a well deserved, and (by now) much needed, meal.

Waving goodbye to the café owners we carried on down the road to visit Wood’s bike shop ( how come bikers can never pass by a big bike showroom but seem to get sucked in to see if, by chance, something new is on display) from where, some of our group, then set off for home.

The rest of us followed Bob through to Betws-y-Coed for an ice-cream and a quick blast home over the scenic Denbigh Moors.

Thanks to everyone for turning up, it’s the members that make it a fun day out, and to Brian for offering to lead us, ‘cos not many will ( and you know we love you really), and to Bob for taking over and bringing us home.

See you all at next meeting
