[Home]. Pistyll Falls 7th August 2011 Once again Ride Out day dawned very wet with the rain moving between light and very heavy. However Me & G turned out to be at Lane Head at 10.00am for the start. We were not expecting anyone to turn up (again!!) but we were wrong. At 10 o'clock Steve turned up followed shortly afterwards by Vinny from Hindley MCC. After a brief chat we set off to the M6 to get into Cheshire and guess what, it stopped raining at Croft interchange and at Thelwall it looked as if it had never rained at all! Our route took us down the A49 then across to the A41 where we had a brew at Broxton where there were a lot of other bikers enjoying the sunshine. We then continued through Malpas, Bangor and Ellesmere to Llynclys where we turned right and headed for the hills. A very enjoyable run was had through the lanes, through un-pronouncable Welsh villages until we ended up at the head of the valley and the Falls. Here we parked up and went to the cafe (expensive) and had a bite and a drink in sight of the falls. At this point Vinny announced that he had to get back so he left us. It was now just two bikes. We headed north over the hills to Corwen. At Carrog Steve left us while Me & G went to Carrog station for a brew and cake. We sat outside in glorious sunshine. The run home from here was routine but still the sun shone. We arrived back in Lowton about 6.30 and guess what? It was raining. Still we had done nearly 200 dry miles and seen some fantastic scenery and roads. A big thank you to those that took the trouble to turn out. |
