[Home]. WINGS EGG RUN 28th March 2010 This egg run was suggested by Mark & Yvonne as a different sort of ride out and also for a good cause (Help the Heroes). Even though it was an early start (and with the clocks going forward the night before, felt even earlier) around 15 bikes met up on Toby car park en-route to Prees for refreshment. Some managed a big breakfast whilst others (me) tried to wake up properly with a large shot of caffeine. We then made our way to Shrewsbury park and ride to meet up with 1000's of other bikers and to register for the run. In a well organised convoy we left the car park and headed towards, and then joined, the M54 for the 25 mile ride to the Cosford Museum. All the bridges across the motorway were lined with people who waved and applauded as the thousands of bikes rode passed beneath them. Arriving at the museum we handed in the Easter eggs and then set off around the huge hangers to study the history of, and to see the planes from the past and present. We left Cosford mid afternoon and rode back to Prees for petrol, then everyone made their own way home, at their own pace. Luckily, even though it was a bit grey early morning, the sun came out before midday and it was quite warm, and I think this helped the good turn-out as the press are reporting more than three thousand bikes took part and I can believe it as he park and ride was packed. It was an interesting and different day out and everyone enjoyed it so thanks to Mark & Yvonne for bringing it to our attention.
